Houston We are pleased to announce that the next Free Minds, Free People conference will take place in Houston, TX in June. We invite K-12 teachers, community-based educators, students,
activists/organizers, artists, parents and academic researchers to
submit proposals for workshops, panels, poster sessions and other
activities. When you have written your proposal you can submit it online. Deadline for submissions: January 15, 2009. |

Free Minds, Free People brought together more than 400 youth, parents, researchers and community-based educators from across the country to begin building a movement to develop and promote Education for Liberation. Education for Liberation prepares the most underserved members of our society to understand and challenge the injustices their communities face.
This national, intergenerational conference featured dozens of workshops by and for educators and youth on topics including social justice schools, action research, arts and liberatory education, Freedom Schools, youth organizing, teaching critical consciousness and much more.
More than 60 individuals and organizations shared their knowledge and experience. The conference took place at a public school in a Latino community on Chicago’s southwest side.
